Altadena Forever - A Story of Hope and Resilience
The first week of January 2026 marks a year since the devastating Eaton Fire tore through our community. For families who lost their homes, that year has felt like a lifetime. Today, nearly 80% of Eaton and Palisades residents are still displaced*, caught in a maze of insurance delays and red tape. That’s why coming together matters now more than ever. The Altadena Forever Run was created for exactly this reason—to rally support and keep our neighbors moving forward.
The event was held Sunday, January 4, despite a flood advisory and unprecedented rainfall. Even in these tough conditions, more than 3,000 people showed up, many of them fire survivors and law enforcement personnel— and some traveled from as far as New York. Attendees also included Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna, and Assemblymember John Harabedian as KTLA’s Wendy Burch emceed the opening program.
The Run Exceeded Expectations
The Altadena Forever Run offered three options for participation: a 1K family walk, a 5K walk/run, and a 10K run for the die-hards. Whether walking or running, the community spirit shown by these entrants in the face of inclement weather was unwavering. And, as Wendy Burch said, “I have to say this is symbolic, that Altadena is racing into the new year as they rebuild this area.”
Angelenos Supporting Angelenos
First City proudly served as the Platinum Sponsor of the Altadena Forever Run to demonstrate our deep commitment to community resilience and recovery. Working closely with former Altadena Town Chair Victoria Knapp and Los Angeles Sheriff Department Captain Ethan Marquez from the Altadena Station, we helped with comprehensive media support to amplify tell the stories of Altadena residents and the hope they bring to the community. Our team curated and crafted compelling storytelling, including producing video features that honored Eaton Fire survivors and shared their journeys of strength and hope. Through these efforts, First City not only supported a meaningful cause but also ensured that the voices of those affected were heard and celebrated. Watch their stories here @FirstCityTV.
Why does First City care so much about this community? It's simple, it's because it's our home, too. Headquartered in Altadena, we were directly impacted by the devastating fire, felt the fear and stress as any other resident, and we want to be a part of rebuilding with our friends and neighbors.
